MAMT Celebrates Museum Night with Exhibition and Sustainable Fashion Shows

The Museum of Modern Art of the Diputació de Tarragona joins the 'Viatge a la Constel·lació Museu' route with an art exhibition and a special 080 Reborn edition.

The Museum of Modern Art of the Diputació de Tarragona (MAMT) will participate in Museum Night on Saturday, May 16, offering an art exhibition and two sustainable fashion shows as part of the 'Viatge a la Constel·lació Museu' route.

This initiative is part of the International Museum Day, celebrated globally from May 16 to 18 with various cultural activities. The MAMT is integrated into a route connecting different cultural centers in Tarragona, facilitating public access to culture.
Under the theme 'Seeking Peace', the MAMT will present Mariona Moncunill's exhibition, titled No vagis a buscar els infants a l'escola, encara. This exhibition invites reflection on life, uncertainty, and the search for a better world, through images of the industrial landscape of Camp de Tarragona. The exhibition will be open to the public from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Additionally, the program includes a special edition of 080 Reborn, a proposal by 080 Barcelona Fashion led by stylists Fermin Serret and Gilles Saint Martin. This initiative celebrates creativity and circularity in sustainable fashion, presenting a retrospective of collections created from recovered pieces over the last four years. The goal is to demonstrate how second-hand fashion can become a contemporary and necessary aesthetic language.
The collection reinterprets textile waste and second-hand pieces, transforming them into objects of desire that champion the beauty of imperfection. With the support of the Catalan Waste Agency and GirbauLab, this initiative advocates for fashion as a driver of change, promoting more conscious consumption and reducing environmental impact. The fashion shows will take place at 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM, with doors opening half an hour before each session.
The 'Viatge a la Constel·lació Museu' route will connect nine museums and cultural spaces in Tarragona via a bus. Participants include the MAMT, CaixaForum Tarragona, Mèdol – Centre d’Arts Contemporànies de Tarragona, Museu del Port de Tarragona, Museu Bíblic Tarraconense, Museu Diocesà de Tarragona, Museu Nacional Arqueològic de Tarragona, Museu d’Història de Tarragona, and the Museu de Matemàtiques de Catalunya a Tarragona. Each center will contribute its vision on a common theme through a heritage piece or element.
