Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrested a 26-year-old man in Tarragona on Friday evening after he allegedly set fire to his own home and violently attacked the responding emergency personnel.

The incident took place around 7:00 PM at Josep Sentís i Porta Square. Authorities were alerted to a man, possibly suffering from a psychiatric disorder, who had started a fire in his residence. Upon arrival, police officers had to restrain the individual due to his aggressive behavior towards the emergency teams.
Four Bombers de la Generalitat fire crews were dispatched to the scene at 7:32 PM. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze quickly, ensuring that no injuries were reported among residents or bystanders.
The Medical Emergency System (SEM) provided medical assistance to the suspect at the scene. Following treatment, the man remained in police custody, facing charges of assaulting law enforcement officers and endangering public safety.
