The Minister of Economy, Alicia Romero, stated this Wednesday in la Pobla de Mafumet that she expects to start budget negotiations with ERC shortly to end the current fiscal extension.

Speaking in the Tarragonès region, Romero praised the recent agreement with Comuns as a solid foundation for housing and health policies. She emphasized that the positive economic trend and high tax collection provide a crucial opportunity to increase investment in public services.

"If resources improve for the Generalitat, they will also improve for the local world."

Regarding the new financing model, the Government anticipates that parliamentary procedures in the Congress of Deputies will begin after Easter. The new system is estimated to bring an additional 4,686 million euros to Catalonia, addressing what the minister described as an unfair current framework.
Romero also criticized fiscal dumping by other regions, noting that the new model will prevent taxes from being reduced to zero. She argued that it is unacceptable for regions to cut taxes and subsequently demand more federal resources, which often originate from Catalan taxpayers.
