The No to MAT Platform and several local authorities have submitted 14,421 formal objections against the high-voltage power line project (MAT) planned between Aragon and Tarragona.

The project, led by Red Eléctrica, aims to triple the current power capacity by installing 55-meter-high towers across 180 kilometers. This infrastructure would impact 28 municipalities, including areas in Priorat, Baix Camp, and Terra Alta.

"We do not want a reformulation of the project, but its annulment."

Opponents highlight the negative impact on the environment, local farming, and public health. Although the utility company has reached out for talks, the platform maintains that the time for dialogue was before the project's finalization.
