The Mayor of Vila-seca, Pere Segura, is set to be the leading political figure at this Sunday's demonstration in Tarragona, demanding full 24-hour coverage for the Stroke Code emergency service.

Organized by the Plataforma de la Sanitat Pública del Camp de Tarragona, the protest will take place at the Balcó del Mediterrani. Activists are urging the Department of Health to ensure Joan XXIII Hospital can perform mechanical thrombectomies year-round, reducing patient transfers to Barcelona.

"We must be at the forefront of a totally fair and necessary demand. We have every right to claim vital services that are already available in Barcelona or Girona."

The PSC party has confirmed its mayors will not attend, following a roadmap agreement between Tarragona Mayor Rubén Viñuales and regional health authorities. The socialists stated that attending could be seen as opposing the deal to gradually improve the service starting this year.
While David Cid from the Comuns party will join Segura, many other regional mayors from Reus, Valls, and Tortosa have either declined or not yet confirmed their presence, potentially weakening the institutional impact of the rally.
