The Port of Tarragona will inaugurate its new Port Park on Saturday, April 18, with a dozen festive and cultural activities, transforming the port area into a space open to the public.

The opening day of the Port Park, which involved an investment of 3.25 million euros, will begin at 10 AM. The event will feature prominent figures such as the president of Port Tarragona, Santiago J. Castellà, the mayor of Tarragona, Rubén Viñuales, and the project coordinator, architect Teresa Jacas, with a welcome address by journalist Aina Mallol.
One of the central moments will be the unveiling of the plaza's totem by Castellà and Viñuales, which will reveal the name of the new space. Subsequently, popular culture will take center stage with a joint dance by entities from the Port and Serrallo neighborhoods, including the Gegants del Port, the Cucafera Petita, the Vibrieta, and the Gegants and Manotes del Serrallo.
Throughout the morning, four simultaneous guided tours will be offered in different areas of the park, led by officials from the Port Authority, allowing attendees to learn about the improvements made. After the tours, the public will be invited to a snack and presented with a souvenir of the event.
At 12 PM, the Big Bike Orchestra, a Polish pop-folk group that performs while cycling on a six-seater bicycle, will offer an itinerant concert. This performance is part of the 31st edition of the Dixieland Festival of Tarragona and is one of the preliminary events for the Tour de France, which will pass through the city this year, promoting cycling as a means of sustainable mobility and leisure.
The renovation of the Port Park has transformed the area around the port headquarters, increasing the green surface by 64%, from 7,000 m² to 11,500 m². This improvement was achieved with the planting of 200 trees and over 14,500 plants and shrubs, creating an intergenerational space and a climate refuge by the sea that enhances the connectivity of Tarragona's maritime facade.
