The Port Authority of Tarragona (APT) is finalizing the major transformation of the Port Park, converting 30,000 square meters of asphalt into a new green and accessible space for the public.

A recent 'time-lapse' video shared on social media has allowed the public to visualize the progress of the works that will redefine the surroundings of the Port of Tarragona. This massive intervention seeks to transform the old asphalt surface into vegetation zones and walking areas open to citizens.
Currently, work is focused on constructing the staircase that will be crucial for connecting the Moll de Costa with the future Plaça APT and the Passeig Marítim i del Rellotge. This project prioritizes accessibility and aims to consolidate a "green lung" in the port environment, benefiting citizens, visitors, and sports entities.
As part of the previous stages, last September, the Port Authority completed the second phase, focused on traffic reorganization. Vehicle circulation was centralized on the Vial del Mar, while the Vial del Rellotge was closed and converted into an exclusive pedestrian promenade.
The restructuring of the Vial del Mar included a two-way system for authorized vehicles and the creation of wider sidewalks, eliminating old roundabouts to gain space for the future green area. With this transformation, the Port Park will become an emblematic space that will unite the city of Tarragona with the sea, improving the quality of life on the coastline.
