The People's Party (PP) has expressed strong opposition to the increase in the tourism stay tax in Vila-seca, scheduled to take effect this coming October.

The conservative party argues that this tax hike, approved by Mayor Pere Segura's local government, lacks consensus with the tourism sector. According to the PP, higher prices for stays in areas like La Pineda could reduce the town's competitiveness compared to nearby destinations.

"From October, sleeping in La Pineda and Vila-seca will be much more expensive, and this will cause visitors to leave for Salou or Cambrils."

Member of the Catalan Parliament, Pere Lluís Huguet, joined local leaders in criticizing PSC and Junts for their stance on the Hard Rock project and their support for tourism taxes. Huguet claimed that these political decisions ignore the interests of citizens in the Tarragona region.
