The Association of Pest Control Professionals of Catalonia (ADEPAP) has reported a significant spike in rodent and cockroach infestations in Tarragona following the specific climate conditions of 2025.

According to a recent survey conducted between January and February, pest control activities for cockroaches and rodents rose by 81.5% compared to the previous year. Experts point to the combination of heavy rainfall and high summer temperatures as the primary catalyst for this biological surge.
The impact has been most severe in major urban centers, including Tarragona, Girona, and the Barcelona metropolitan area. This marks the fourth consecutive year of rising demand for these services. Additionally, requests for flying insect control grew by 37%, and bedbug treatments saw a 33.3% increase among surveyed firms.

"2025 was a warm year throughout the territory and rainy in most regions, which favors the proliferation of insects in general."
