The Salou City Council officially approved on Wednesday the transfer of land to the Generalitat for the construction of the Cap Salou Institute-School, expected to open in September 2026.

The project will be located on a 12,000-square-meter site between Pla de Maset and Fonoll Street. Using modular construction techniques, the facility aims to quickly address the high demand for school places in the area, a project that has been under discussion for 17 years.

"The Government is underway to open the school as soon as possible."

Pere Granados · Mayor of Salou
The school will initially offer I3 (preschool) and 1st year of ESO (secondary education) levels. This phased opening is designed to gradually reduce overcrowding in other local schools. Mayor Pere Granados noted that while administrative hurdles have been cleared, the final construction timeline remains subject to caution.
