Over 2,000 runners participated in the Salou 10k, an event that transformed the town into a running hub, enjoying a perfect afternoon and an ideal route.

The Salou 10k by Diari de Tarragona race hosted 2,000 participants, who enjoyed a memorable sporting day. The event left emotional images, such as Scottish athletes who traveled specifically for the race and to enjoy a holiday on the Costa Daurada, or Òscar Montserrat celebrating his victory with his son in his arms, preparing for the London Marathon.
The afternoon was ideal for athletics, with pleasant temperatures and a fast circuit with few curves that was enjoyed by all participants. Before the main races, children's races were held in the Plaça de la Segregació, with distances of 300 and 500 meters for children of different ages. This race, organized by Sports Events, is part of the race circuit of the Metropolitan Area of Camp de Tarragona.
The starting gun, fired by the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, began a route that took athletes through central streets such as carrer Barcelona and Passeig Miramar, and in the case of the 10k, to Passeig Jaume I. In the men's 5k event, Abdelhakim Halid was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 15 minutes and 42 seconds, closely followed by Uri Ramírez (15.45) and Óscar Martínez (15.52). In the women's 5k category, Elia Figuera dominated with 19.55 minutes, surpassing Angelina Díaz (21.20) and Martina Rocco (21.24).
The main event, the 10k, saw Salou native Òscar Montserrat as the winner, with a time of 32 minutes and 51 seconds, ahead of Joan Carles Anglès (32.54) and David Rodríguez (33.08). In the women's category, Jess Bonet, from Vilaplana, achieved victory with 38 minutes and 53 seconds, followed by Marta Sabaté (39.33) and Paula Cavallé (41.26). Bonet, who had already won the Cambrils 10k, leads the race circuit of the Metropolitan Area of Camp de Tarragona.
The event highlighted the notable female participation (45%) and young athletes (48% under 34 years old). Most registered participants opted for the 10k (70%), and 25% of the runners came from outside the province of Tarragona, which contributes to tourism desesonalization and the revitalization of the municipality. For the first time, the race included a category for police officers, with the participation of 96 agents.
