Salou celebrated this Monday the 750th anniversary of the death of James I with a series of institutional and cultural events that highlighted local history.

The commemoration took place on the promenade named after the monarch, where the importance of the port of Salou as the starting point of the expedition that began the conquest of Mallorca in 1229 was recalled. During the event, fragments of the Llibre dels Feits were read, evoking the preparations of the historic fleet.
The day began with a floral offering at the monarch's tomb located at the Monastery of Poblet. In the evening, the program in Salou included musical performances, the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, and the participation of local giants, which closed the celebration with a traditional dance.
