Civic agents are deployed on the streets of Salou distributing informational leaflets to electric scooter users. The main objective of this initiative is to promote safe riding and raise awareness about the rules to follow, before applying sanctions.
The campaign, conducted in Catalan and Spanish, emphasizes education and prevention. Agents address drivers' doubts about the current regulations for personal mobility vehicles (PMVs) and remind them of their key obligations.
Among the aspects that often cause confusion among users are the obligation to have the scooter registered and identified with a label, to have civil liability insurance, to always wear a homologated helmet, to maintain safety features such as lights, brakes, wheels, and bell in good condition, to respect traffic signs, and not to exceed 25 km/h.
The campaign also warns of the consequences of non-compliance. Fines can range from €80 for riding without an identification label to €800 for not having mandatory insurance. Additionally, the vehicle may be immobilized.
Furthermore, it is reminded that using a mobile phone or headphones while riding, carrying passengers, riding on sidewalks, or riding under the influence of alcohol is prohibited.
