The Salou City Council has decided to suspend all outdoor festive events scheduled for Saturday, January 31, until 6 PM, due to the activation of the orange alert for strong winds in the Tarragonès region.

The decision, which prioritizes citizen safety, follows recommendations issued by Protecció Civil de la Generalitat de Catalunya. The Catalan Meteorological Service has activated the orange alert across the entire Tarragonès region due to the forecast of intense wind gusts.
This situation has forced the cancellation of activities such as the petanque tournament, the Cercavila and Ball de Lluïment del Seguici Festiu (Parade and Festive Retinue Dance), and the Salta Xic’s. The inability to guarantee the safe development of these outdoor events was the main reason for the cancellation.
Despite the suspensions, some events continue with location modifications. The reception of the mayor and the municipal corporation to Salou entities and associations will take place in the Plenary Hall of Salou City Council, maintaining the schedule at 1 PM.
The weather conditions also affect long-duration activities. The Fira Xic’s, located in the Plaça de les Comunitats Autònomes, will remain closed until 6 PM, and the inauguration of the inflatable park Funbox Salou is canceled.
The Salou City Council reported that it is working to reschedule the canceled events and thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation regarding changes that respond exclusively to safety criteria.
