The Salou City Council has resumed the procurement process this January to install a new elevator at the Municipal Library, a project aimed at upgrading the 34-year-old facility with a 130,000-euro investment.

The library, which opened in 1990 and is part of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia, currently lacks modern vertical access. The new lift will be installed within the existing restroom area and will have a capacity for eight people, ensuring full compliance with accessibility standards.
Technical reports highlight that the elevator is prepared for a future third floor expansion. Although the project faced delays due to issues with the initial bidder, RUGIFA GROUP SL, a second tender is now underway with an expected four-month construction period once awarded.
