The Spanish Union of Railway Engineers (Semaf) issued a statement on Sunday confirming that Rodalies de Catalunya drivers have always reported for duty, and that they will oversee compliance with safety protocols.

The Spanish Union of Railway Engineers (Semaf) released a statement this Sunday, January 25, 2026, aiming to reassure the public about the professionalism of its members. The union asserted that the drivers of Rodalies de Catalunya trains have "always" reported to their posts, adhering strictly to labor and Renfe regulations.

The workers have followed labor and Renfe regulations at all times, especially regarding safety measures, with the goal of guaranteeing the safety of both the drivers and the service users.

Semaf also warned that it will closely monitor the compliance of the agreement reached with Adif and Renfe, which aims to guarantee the safety of the railway network following the service suspension. This protocol is essential for determining which Rodalies tracks will be operational.
The agreement outlines a three-phase process for service recovery. Initially, Adif will carry out necessary actions to ensure infrastructure safety, certified by technical staff signatures. Subsequently, Renfe Viajeros will deploy its own personnel to verify track safety. Service recovery will then be progressive, prioritizing lines R1, R2, and R4, once both parties submit the required documentation.
