Storm Leonardo will cause scattered rain and a significant maritime storm in Catalunya starting Thursday, with warnings activated by the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya for high waves.

The effects of storm Leonardo, the twelfth such phenomenon recorded this season, will be felt in Catalunya starting this Thursday. The Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (SMC) has activated warnings for rough seas from Empordà to Tarragonès, with a risk of waves exceeding 2.5 meters.
The areas most affected by the maritime storm are the coasts of Maresme and Baix Llobregat, where the risk is high. Yellow level warnings are also in place for the sea off Selva, Barcelonès, and Garraf.

Protecció Civil urges the public to take extreme precautions in all coastal areas due to the risk of high waves.

Regarding precipitation, forecasts indicate that the rain will be light and with minor accumulation, lasting throughout the day on Thursday. Although storm Leonardo will begin to dissipate from Friday, the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet) anticipates the arrival of new storms over the Iberian Peninsula by Saturday.
