The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has placed Tarragona on alert as Storm Pedro approaches, bringing predicted wind gusts of up to 110 km/h this Thursday.

Pedro is the 16th named storm of the 2025-26 season. While the storm's center is heading towards France, its southern edge will cause significant disruption in Catalonia, particularly in the Tarragona province where high winds pose a risk to trees and infrastructure.
The weather event will also bring a sharp drop in temperatures and snow at altitudes above 700 meters in northern Spain. Coastal areas are expected to see massive waves, with heights reaching up to 7 meters in some parts of the country.
Local authorities advise residents to stay away from the shoreline and secure loose objects on balconies. Conditions are expected to improve by Friday as the storm moves further inland and dissipates.
