The Administrative Court number 1 of Tarragona has annulled the establishment of Funecamp, a public funeral company promoted by Reus, Salou, Vila-seca, and Constantí, citing economic irregularities.

The judicial resolution supports the appeals filed by private competitors Mémora, Funeconca, and Serveis Funeraris Pedrola Montbrió. The sentence cancels the agreements made by the city councils of the four municipalities involved in the Camp de Tarragona area.

"The project is legal and viable, backed by rigorous technical and economic reports."

Funecamp has announced it will appeal the decision before the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC). The company maintains that the ruling is not final and does not accurately reflect the reality of the public funeral project.
Meanwhile, Mémora welcomed the ruling, emphasizing that the court found the economic memory invalid for failing to meet legal requirements. The court also ordered the four municipalities to pay the legal costs of the proceedings.
