Tarragona exports drop by 9.6% in January

Chemical products and capital goods lead the decline in foreign trade for the Tarragona region.

Companies in Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre saw a 9.6% decrease in exports during January, totaling 850.5 million euros according to the Ministry of Economy.

The chemical sector, which accounts for 37.4% of the region's total exports, recorded 318 million euros in sales, a 13.8% drop. Capital goods also faced a significant downturn, falling by 17.5% to 137.4 million euros.
Imports also decreased by 11.4%, reaching 1,321.7 million euros. Specifically, chemical imports fell by 21.5%, reflecting a general slowdown in international trade activity at the beginning of the year for the Tarragona area.
