The Tarragona municipal transport company (EMT) is set to launch its most significant bus line reorganization in forty years this September, coinciding with the local Santa Tecla festivities.

The plan, led by Sonia Orts, is expected to receive final approval from the City Council in April or May. This update follows extensive negotiations with neighborhood associations and political groups to refine the map of the city's 17 bus lines.

"The initial idea was to do it in June, but we are in no hurry and do not want to rush. Negotiations have been very constructive."

Key improvements include doubling the night service in the Sant Salvador district and adjusting schedules in the Llevant area to better serve students. Additionally, the L-13 line will be extended to reach the main train station, improving connectivity for commuters.
The city administration, headed by Mayor Rubén Viñuales, has committed 12 million euros to purchase 33 new hybrid buses. This investment aims to modernize the fleet of 84 vehicles, ensuring that 90% of residents remain within a five-minute walk of a bus stop.
