Thousands of teachers brought the center of Tarragona to a standstill this Tuesday, March 17, during the second day of strikes across Catalonia demanding improvements to the public education system.

The demonstration started at Imperial Tàrraco Square and moved along Rambla Nova towards the Regional Education Services. Unions such as USTEC-STEs and CGT are protesting against a recent agreement signed between the Generalitat Government and minority unions.
The protest included strategic roadblocks. In Montblanc, teachers joined by Revolta Pagesa tractors blocked the AP-2 highway. Access to the Port of Tarragona via the A-27 was also disrupted, causing significant truck queues.
Local Guàrdia Urbana and Mossos d'Esquadra police forces managed traffic diversions, which heavily impacted EMT bus lines. Protests are scheduled to continue in Lleida and Girona later this week.
