Three individuals suffered carbon monoxide poisoning Sunday night in a home in El Catllar, Tarragona, caused by the poor combustion of a diesel boiler.

The incident took place around 8:30 PM on Sunday at a residence located on Avenida Primera, within the Residencial 5 Estrelles development in El Catllar.
Five units from the SEM (Medical Emergency System) initially responded. A subsequent unit from the Bombers de la Generalitat (Fire Department) confirmed high concentrations of carbon monoxide inside the house.
Firefighters determined that the poisoning was caused by the poor combustion of a diesel boiler. They cut the power supply and immediately began ventilating the affected dwelling to clear the toxic gas.
The three victims were transported to Moisès Broggi Hospital in Sant Joan Despí, which is equipped with the necessary hyperbaric chamber for treating carbon monoxide poisoning. The entire street was preventively evacuated as a safety measure.
