The Reading Plan is established under the Municipi Lector (Reading Municipality) program by IBBYcat, aiming to promote collaboration between institutions, families, educational centers, and libraries to cultivate the habit and pleasure of reading in children and adolescents.
The conference will provide a space to learn about local reading initiatives, share experiences, and reflect on the roles of family, school, library, and municipality in supporting young readers.
Throughout the day, various activities will be held for different audiences, including reading labs, board games, presentations of children's and youth reading clubs, the Reading Council, and the Teachers' Club, as well as visits to exhibitions.
As a preliminary activity, on Thursday, October 1st at 5 PM, a mural will be painted at the Mestra Maria Antònia Municipal Library by artist Joana Cortés Ferré, in collaboration with the Espai Jove (Youth Space), specifically aimed at young people. Pre-registration is available via the Viu La Torre App and the municipal website.
The program for Friday, October 2nd, includes welcome and exhibition visits at 9 AM, the presentation of the Reading Plan at 10 AM, and the workshop 'La lectura per la Torre?' with Mònica Vidal from 10:20 AM to 12:30 PM (open event).
In the afternoon, following a fellowship lunch, there will be a guided tour of the exhibitions at 4 PM. At 5:15 PM, two workshops will take place: 'L’arxipèlag de les illes remotes' with Judith Navarro (for educators and adults) and board games with Metajuego (for adolescents aged 12+, requiring pre-registration).
At 6 PM, the children's reading clubs Follets and Atrapallibres will be presented, aimed at families. At 6:30 PM, Judith Navarro's workshops for families with children will continue, and the youth reading clubs Young Adult, Beginners, and Club Manga will be presented by Júlia Salvador, Yassmin Acharoui, and Carlos Moreno respectively (open events).
