The arrest took place around 6:00 PM at kilometer point 247 of the AP-7, when traffic patrols stopped the vehicle following instructions from the Baix Camp-Priorat Investigation Unit. Investigators were tracking a criminal group that stored the drug in a warehouse in La Selva del Camp (Baix Camp) with the aim of exporting it to Europe.
Once the truck was intercepted, the driver and passenger provided evasive and incoherent answers about the cargo. Officers detected signs of manipulation on the rear wall of the trailer, noting an anomalous difference of more than 50 centimeters between the exterior and interior measurements. This confirmed the suspicion of a false bottom.
The seized drug, consisting of 58 bags of vacuum-packed marijuana buds, would have an approximate value of 120,000 euros on the illegal market, a figure that could double when distributed in other European countries.
Given the evidence, the Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters) were activated to open the wall, locating four bundles containing the 60 kilograms of the narcotic substance. That same evening, officers searched the warehouse in La Selva del Camp, seizing documentation, frequency inhibitors, and GPS trackers linked to the criminal group. The two detainees, accused of belonging to a criminal group and a crime against public health, were brought before the instructing court in Reus.
