Unemployment remains stable in Tarragona with slight year-on-year improvement

February data shows a minimal increase of 17 unemployed people while social security affiliation grows by 2.23%.

The Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre regions ended February 2026 with 38,898 people unemployed, a figure nearly identical to January's records.

According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), the number of jobless citizens increased by only 17 people compared to the previous month. However, the year-on-year comparison shows a positive trend with 884 fewer unemployed people than in 2025.
Social Security affiliation reached 342,694 members, representing a 2.23% increase compared to February of last year. The services sector remains the largest source of unemployment with 27,662 people, despite 111 individuals finding work in this field last month.
Regarding labor contracts, 17,214 agreements were signed in February. Temporary contracts saw a notable rise of 20.58%, while permanent contracts decreased by 4.24% compared to the same period last year.
