Vila-seca prepares for five intense days of Carnival featuring a massive parade

The festive program runs from Friday, February 13, to Sunday, February 22, and includes the traditional burial of the sardine.

The municipality of Vila-seca, in the Tarragonès region, will kick off its five-day Carnival celebration on Friday, February 13, with the arrival of HM King Carnestoltes at the Plaça de l’Església Vella.

The festive program will begin at the Plaça de l’Església Vella with the arrival of HM King Carnestoltes at 7:55 PM on Friday, February 13. Accompanied by the Txaranga Band Tocats, the procession will head to the Plaça d’Estudi for the handover of the keys and the awards ceremony for the 12th Carnival Poster Contest, followed by a popular hot chocolate event.
The highlight will be the grand Carnival parade (rúa) on Saturday, February 14, starting at 6:42 PM. The event is expected to feature 1,600 participants distributed across 15 groups. The parade will start on Sir Esteve Morell Scott street and proceed along several main roads, concluding on Joan Maragall street. The night will end with the Grand Carnival Dance at the Municipal Sports Pavilion at 11:30 PM.
On Sunday, February 15, the Societat El Fènix will host the children's catwalk at 5:00 PM, complete with entertainment and hot chocolate. The official end of the Carnival will arrive on Tuesday, February 17, with the burial of the sardine. The funeral procession will depart from the Plaça de l’Església Vella and end at the Plaça d’Estudi with a popular sardine barbecue and the presentation of the 2026 Carnival Parade awards.
The programming will definitively conclude on Sunday, February 22, with the celebration of the 6th Vermut Carnavalero. This event will take place at 12:00 PM in the Jardí del Castell, marking the end of five days of revelry and celebration in the town.
