Civil Protection has activated the Ventcat emergency plan in Tarragona and across Catalonia due to a severe windstorm expected to last until Friday noon.

The Catalan Meteorological Service warns of westerly winds exceeding 100 km/h. In the Tarragona region, gusts could reach 108 km/h, while the Baix Camp area might see peaks of 126 km/h during Thursday's peak hours.
Traffic restrictions are in place for vehicles over 7.5 tons. Trucks are banned from the AP-7 motorway between Cambrils and Amposta. In other major roads in the province, heavy vehicles must stay in the right lane and are limited to 80 km/h.
Firefighters have increased staffing in Tarragona and the Ebre regions. Citizens are advised to secure balconies, avoid wooded areas, and postpone outdoor activities, especially during the height of the storm on Thursday.
