The Xiquets de Tarragona held a very special performance this Saturday midday in front of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. This event is part of the central activities commemorating the centenary of the 'colla', founded in 1926. The Tarragona delegation, comprising nearly 300 'castellers', traveled to the Basque Country to showcase the 'casteller' tradition at one of Europe's most renowned cultural landmarks.
Outside the Bilbao museum, the 'castellers' successfully completed five human towers: a 3 de 7, a 5 de 7, a 4 de 7, a 7 de 7, and a 4 de 7 with 'agulla'. This display showcased the breadth of their repertoire to a large audience.
This performance in Bilbao is part of the events organized to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the 'colla's' founding. In addition to their appearance at the Guggenheim, the Xiquets de Tarragona are scheduled for another performance this afternoon in Alonsotegi, a Biscayan municipality that has invited them to the Andra Mari festivities.
The stay in the Basque Country also includes various cultural and social activities, aimed at strengthening bonds among 'colla' members and promoting Catalan popular culture beyond its usual territory.
The management of the Xiquets de Tarragona has highly praised this experience, which combines the Centenary celebration with the international projection of the 'casteller' world on a stage of significant global reach.
