The president of the Tarragonès Regional Council, Joan Martí Pla, accompanied by councilor Jordi Collado and manager Francisco David González, visited several schools in the region this morning where improvement and adaptation works on the canteens were carried out during the summer.
"Ensuring that school canteens meet the needs of children is an essential part of our responsibility to public education," stated Joan Martí Pla, highlighting the ongoing work to renovate and adapt these spaces in coordination with educational centers.
The projects included the installation of ping pong tables at the Sant Salvador School, air conditioning for the canteens at the Guillem de Claramunt School in La Secuita (with an investment of 6,000 euros) and at the Josep Veciana School in Perafort (19,000 euros), to combat high temperatures.
One of the most significant interventions took place at the Riu Clar school, where an in-house kitchen was equipped and launched with an investment of 25,000 euros. Previously, meals were transported, but now they can be prepared on-site, ensuring healthy and quality nutrition.
Councilor Jordi Collado described the re-establishment of the in-house kitchen at Riu Clar school as a "very significant step forward" that enhances educational quality and student well-being.
At the Cal·lípolis school in La Pineda, three picnic tables were added to the recreational area with an investment of 1,500 euros, to better utilize outdoor spaces.
With these improvements, the Tarragonès Regional Council reaffirms its commitment to equipping school canteens, aiming to provide spaces that meet children's needs and ensure good conditions during school meal times.
