Circulation on the R13 Rodalies line was interrupted on Sunday morning, February 8, 2026, between the Valls and Salomó stations. The cause was a freight train breakdown that occurred around 08:45 AM.
Following the incident, Renfe quickly established an alternative road service to cover the affected section, connecting the La Plana-Picamoixons and Salomó stations.
Simultaneously, the incident caused a chain reaction across the railway network. At 09:00 AM, average delays of about 20 minutes were registered on the R2 South line (connecting Sant Vicenç de Calders with Barcelona Estación de Francia via Vilanova i la Geltrú).
Furthermore, the R16 line, which links Barcelona Estación de Francia with Tortosa and Ulldecona via Tarragona, experienced more significant delays, averaging about 40 minutes, due to speed restrictions imposed on the network.
