Granados's presence at Fitur was marked by austerity and mourning following the Adamuz rail accident. Due to this tragedy, the mayor canceled the event planned at the Movistar Arena in Madrid, which was to include a special menu prepared by Michelin Star Chef Pep Moreno, from the restaurant Deliranto. This gastronomic event will be held soon in Salou.
Instead, Pere Granados held a sober press conference where he presented an emotional video highlighting the most important moments in Salou's history, aiming to increase the sense of belonging among residents of the Costa Daurada capital. The mayor emphasized the importance of this historical legacy for the tourism strategy.
“"Heritage is one of the strongest elements and can help us de-seasonalize the season and attract visitors all year round."
In addition to the optimistic forecasts for 2026, which he expects to surpass the figures of 2025, Granados confirmed that Salou will host 'la Festa del cel' again in September. This festival, which previously attracted over 300,000 people, will be made larger and have a distinctly international character.
Finally, the mayor used the Fitur platform to demand better funding for tourist municipalities like Salou, which must guarantee essential services such as security and cleaning for a population that multiplies tenfold during certain times of the year. In this regard, he defended the tourist tax, although he requested that it be applied uniformly across all municipalities.
