The city of Salou has experienced a remarkable increase in tourist activity during the first months of 2026, with a 51.09% rise in overnight stays in February, consolidating its commitment to de-seasonalization.

Data from January and February 2026 reveal substantial growth in both arrivals and overnight stays in Salou. These figures not only reflect a higher volume of visitors but also a growing capacity to attract tourists outside the high season, one of the municipality's strategic objectives.
Regarding overnight stays, 49,604 were registered in January, a 14.29% increase compared to the previous year. In February, the number reached 39,237, with an impressive 51.09% increase. These figures suggest a longer average stay and reaffirm Salou as an attractive year-round destination. The strong performance of international markets has been crucial, with notable increases from British, French, and Dutch tourists, as well as a strong emergence of the North American, Portuguese, and Canadian markets.
Arrivals have also shown a very positive trend. During January, 24,081 visitors were recorded, a 14.90% increase from last year, while in February, 19,624 arrivals were registered, an increase of 53.59%. Among the markets with the most significant growth are the British and Irish, as well as the United States and Canada, which are consolidating their presence in the town. French tourism has also seen a significant increase, reinforcing the weight of traditional European markets.

"Salou continues to demonstrate, according to these figures, that it is a municipality that attracts visitors throughout the year. These results are the fruit of joint and coordinated work between the City Council and the private sector, which allows us to advance solidly towards a more sustainable, diversified, and de-seasonalized tourism model."

Pere Granados · Mayor of Salou and President of the Municipal Tourism Board
Granados emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration as a key factor in this success, stating that the involvement of the business sector is essential to improve the offer and adapt to new market demands. He also highlighted the need to continue investing in infrastructure, such as enhancing Reus Airport and constructing a railway branch line connecting Salou with the Mediterranean Corridor, to consolidate the municipality as an international, modern, and well-connected destination throughout the year.
