The closure, requested by the Ministry of Transport, diverts traffic between Martorell and Castellbisbal onto the A-2 highway.

The Catalan Traffic Service has reported a new total closure of the AP-7 southbound towards Tarragona, between Martorell and Castellbisbal, due to a structural problem found during repair works.

The highway is completely interrupted in the southbound direction, at the location where the tragic railway accident in Gelida occurred. According to Trànsit, the measure is due to an "unforeseen structural problem" that requires immediate repair tasks.
The closure was requested by the Ministry of Transport after verifying that the ongoing excavation, intended to reach stable ground, directly affects part of the right lane. The Catalan Traffic Service (SCT) has activated mandatory detours via the A-2 road.

"The fifteen-day horizon to complete the work, subject to weather conditions."

This interruption follows the initial safety closure of the AP-7 after the fatal accident on January 20 in Gelida, when a containment wall from the motorway collapsed onto a train, causing the death of a trainee driver.
Although one southbound lane near Martorell had been reopened on Saturday afternoon, deemed safe by technicians, the new technical assessment has forced the closure of the entire roadway to complete the repair work on the damaged structures.
