Driver critically injured in AP-7 multi-vehicle crash in Vandellòs dies

The 36-year-old victim, a resident of Amposta, passed away at the Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona after the eight-vehicle collision on Wednesday evening.

A 36-year-old woman, resident of Amposta, died at the Hospital Joan XXIII in Tarragona after being critically injured in a multiple collision on the AP-7 near Vandellòs i l’Hospitalet de l’Infant on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred around 8:25 PM on Wednesday, at kilometer point 279 of the AP-7, due to causes that are still under investigation. Up to eight vehicles were involved in the collision.
As a result of the crash, three people were seriously injured: two in critical condition and a third with a serious prognosis. All were urgently transferred to the Hospital Joan XXIII in Tarragona. During the night, the driver of one of the cars, who was in critical condition, died at the hospital.
According to provisional data from the Servei Català de Trànsit, this is the second fatality in December and raises the number of people who have lost their lives on the roads of the province of Tarragona during 2025 to 31, including 24 men and 7 women.
Furthermore, this incident marks the eleventh fatal accident recorded on the AP-7 within the provincial section. Across Catalunya, 140 people have died in traffic accidents so far in 2025.
