Analyst Fernando Rodríguez (CaixaBank) clarified that the warning is limited to language models, not Artificial Intelligence in general.

Fernando Rodríguez, from CaixaBank Wealth Management, warned yesterday in Tarragona about a potential financial bubble in generative text artificial intelligence, such as ChatGPT or Gemini.

The warning was issued during the conference ‘La funció social de les bombolles’ (The social function of bubbles) held at CaixaForum de Tarragona on January 27, 2026. Rodríguez, a member of the strategy team at CaixaBank Wealth Management, focused his concern on language models, arguing that the public's reluctance to pay for premium versions hinders their financing.
However, the expert ruled out a generalized bubble across the entire Artificial Intelligence sector. He explained that AI is not limited solely to language models but includes many other applications used in diverse sectors such as logistics or transport, which maintain a solid foundation.

"Bubbles, although financially always bad news, bring positive externalities for society, such as the generation of infrastructure."

In the specific case of AI, Rodríguez highlighted that the positive legacy of this technology will be the construction of the electrical infrastructure necessary to power the large data centers required by these systems.
