Dozens of farmers and ranchers are maintaining the blockade of the A-27 access to the Port of Tarragona since Thursday morning, demanding that Minister Òscar Ordeig take a stand against the EU-Mercosur agreement.

The mobilization, which began early Thursday, has forced protesters to spend the night on the road, as they do not plan to lift the blockade until they receive guarantees. The affected point is the main port access via the A-27 highway.

"We do not plan to lift the blockades; we want to speak with him so he takes a stand against the treaty."

The president of the Gremi de la Pagesia Catalana, Joan Regolf, confirmed that a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, is scheduled for Friday, although the time and location have yet to be finalized.
Regolf noted that the meeting “will almost certainly be in the city of Tarragona.” The sector has issued a new call for participation to maintain pressure until next Monday, the deadline they have set for the protest against the Mercosur agreement.
