Farmers began calling off the protest at the Port of Tarragona this Monday, reopening one lane of the A-27 after four nights of blockade against the EU-Mercosur agreement.

The agricultural workers who had blocked access to the Port of Tarragona via the A-27 began withdrawing from the protest this Monday morning. They have reopened one lane to allow entry and exit to the port facility while they proceed to collect all the materials used during the mobilization.
The decision to abandon this key logistical point comes after the farmers spent a fourth night sleeping outdoors. This action is part of the widespread protests by the Catalan agricultural sector against the trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur.

The blockade at the access to the Port of Tarragona was one of the most sensitive points of the mobilization due to its impact on logistical activity.

Despite the withdrawal in Tarragona, the farmers agreed on Sunday night to maintain other important road blockades across Catalonia. Cuts continue on the AP-7, between Borrassà and the regions of Alt Empordà and Pla de l'Estany, as well as on the C-16 in Berguedà, the N-II in Alt Empordà, and the C-38 at Coll d'Ares.
