The Diputació de Tarragona has awarded a grant to the Consell Comarcal del Tarragonès for the archival treatment and preservation of documentary heritage. This aid is part of the work of the Tarragona Historical Archive for the long-term preservation of historically significant collections.
The subsidy will enable the documentary treatment of the collection of the magazine ¡Cucut!, recently deposited at the Municipal Archive of La Nou de Gaià. The objective is to ensure its preservation, proper management, and accessibility for citizens and researchers.
The ¡Cucut! collection, a satirical publication of early 20th-century political Catalanism, comprises 126 original issues, dated between February 13, 1902, and April 11, 1912. The treatment was carried out over two months, following preventive conservation criteria and using approved materials.
The interventions have improved the identification, description, and conservation of the collection, which showed varied conditions due to the natural aging of the paper. As a result, the archive now possesses an organized and preserved collection, with a descriptive tool that facilitates its location, consultation, and management, integrating it into the municipal documentary heritage.
