Members of Revolta Pagesa, who are maintaining the blockade of the main access to the Port of Tarragona, will hold a slow tractor march through the city center this Sunday to protest against the EU-Mercosur trade agreement.

After spending the second night on the road, the demonstrators will head to Imperial Tàrraco Square around noon and travel along the Rambla Nova. The action will conclude with the reading of a manifesto to show the sector's rejection of the trade pact, which they claim will have serious consequences for the agri-food sector and the general population.

"These days we have been rationing the animals' food more, which arrives drop by drop, but we believe it is for a good cause; it is for food, for the sector, for the Catalan people, for everything."

The protest on the A-27, which has entered its third day, is expected to continue until next Monday, according to Joan Regolf, president of the Gremi de la Pagesia Catalana (Catalan Peasant Guild). The sector remains firm despite the disappointment expressed after the meeting held with the Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig.
New farmers from the area have joined the concentration, as well as environmental groups from Camp de Tarragona and demonstrators coming from the A-2 blockade in Fondarella, such as veterinary assistant Núria Grau. The farmers, who have lit small bonfires to resist the cold, are open to negotiating the entry and exit of trucks transporting dangerous materials or live animals.
Revolta Pagesa directly calls on the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and other Government representatives to respond to the sector's concerns. Regolf demanded a clear position following the ultimatum issued after the meeting on Friday evening in Reus.
