The disruption in Rodalies and Medium Distance train services on Monday, January 26, spread to high-speed rail at the Camp de Tarragona station, causing delays of up to two hours for travelers.
The day of Monday, January 26 was marked by railway incidents that severely affected circulation, including high-speed services like AVE and Ouigo. At the Camp de Tarragona station, travelers experienced delays of between one and two hours. For example, an Ouigo train bound for Barcelona scheduled for 12:24 p.m. did not announce track access until close to two in the afternoon.
One of the affected passengers was Iraida Caballé, a resident of Amsterdam from Reus, who was traveling to Barcelona to meet clients. She had chosen high-speed rail, despite having to travel 40 minutes by road to the station, precisely to avoid the issues plaguing the regional service. Her AVE train scheduled for 2:06 p.m. was rescheduled to 3:17 p.m.
“
"I hoped that at least with the AVE there wouldn't be so many problems, but there are. My train is over an hour and twenty minutes late; the app shows nothing, it only shows the estimated departure time, so the chaos continues."
Due to the delays, Caballé had to cancel an in-person meeting with a client scheduled for the afternoon and changed a meeting the following day to a remote format. This situation reflects the widespread impact, as her client also received instructions to telework all week to avoid transportation risks.
Other users, such as Marta García, traveling with her mother to Madrid, also noticed the alterations. Her AVE ticket was converted to an Avant service. García expressed her concern about the service.
“
"It has become an Avant and not an AVE; for now, it is not delayed, but everything else is. I am a little afraid to travel by train after the recent accidents and incidents."
