The Tourism Board of the Tarragona Provincial Council and COPATE signed a collaboration protocol on January 22, 2026, to develop a responsible tourism model in the Terres de l’Ebre Biosphere Reserve.

This agreement establishes a stable cooperation framework between the Tourism Board of the Tarragona Provincial Council and the Consortium of Environmental Policies of the Terres de l’Ebre (COPATE) to improve coordination and share tourism promotion projects. The goal is to ensure that sector growth is balanced with environmental protection, landscape preservation, and the territorial identity of the Terres de l’Ebre.

"This protocol allows us to reinforce a tourism model that clearly commits to quality, diversification, and respect for the territory. The Terres de l’Ebre have enormous potential, and only through institutional cooperation can we project a competitive destination consistent with its values."

Enric Adell · President of the Tarragona Provincial Council Tourism Board
Among the main collaboration axes, the desire to standardize the image of the Terres de l’Ebre Biosphere Reserve destination stands out. Furthermore, a mixed working group will be created to meet periodically to coordinate actions and strategic lines regarding sustainable tourism.

"The Biosphere Reserve is a strategic opportunity for the sustainable development of the territory. This agreement with the Tourism Board allows us to advance in promoting responsible tourism that values our natural, landscape, and agri-food resources, generating economic opportunities without compromising the future."

Ivan García · President of COPATE
