The Diputació de Tarragona (Tarragona Provincial Council) convened representatives from the rural world of the Camp de Tarragona and Baix Penedès regions last Thursday, February 5. This meeting served to gather experiences and conclusions that will help shape the deployment of the Tarragona Territorial Innovation Center (CIT). Its provisional location will be at the Museu Comarcal de Falset, thanks to a space ceded by the Falset City Council.
The CIT Tarragona will focus its actions on two priority areas. The first is agrotech-agrifood, aimed at modernizing the primary sector through digitalization, sustainability, and added value. The second area is cultural and creative industries, seeking to position culture as a strategic vector for territorial development.
The reflection, debate, and collection of needs and expectations from rural representatives will allow marking the next steps for the CIT Tarragona and defining its priorities.
These co-creation and debate sessions are aligned with the agreement signed between the Diputació de Tarragona and the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge for the creation of the center. Furthermore, a similar session will be held on February 19, aimed at the rural world of the Terres de l'Ebre, with the CIT headquarters in La Galera serving as the meeting point.
During 2026, the CIT Tarragona will focus on territorial diagnosis, the launch of its two headquarters, the definition of protocols and services, and the execution of pilot projects. These initiatives will align with the state-level Red CIT (CIT Network) to consolidate and scale territorial innovation in the province.
