This drop represents a decrease of 2.67 points compared to the same period the previous year, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE) on Tuesday, January 27. The total number of unemployed people in the demarcation decreased by 10,800, standing at 44,400.
Regarding employment, the number of employed people increased by 19,100, reaching a total of 399,400. However, the increase in employment is concentrated exclusively among men, with 22,200 more employed, while the number of employed women decreased by 3,100 compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.
The Tarragona demarcation is the only one in Catalonia to register a decrease in the unemployment rate in the last quarter of 2025, standing at 10%.
The sectoral analysis shows that Construction is the sector that made the most new hires, adding 13,100 workers up to 36,800. This is followed by Agriculture, with an increase of 5,900, and Industry, which gained 4,600 new employees.
In contrast to the other sectors, the Services sector is the only one losing workers, with a drop of 4,500 people. The number of service workers fell from 276,300 at the end of 2024 to 271,800 at the close of 2025.
