Following the Christmas break, the Mèdol Tarragona SPSP returned to competition on their home court to begin the second phase, where promotion is at stake. The level of demand was high, as the Wash Auto Panel AVG presented themselves as a challenging opponent.
The Tarragona side, often called 'the reds', set the pace from the start. Although some unforced errors allowed the visitors to stay close on the scoreboard, the local team's solidity was key to closing the first set with a clear 25-16.
The script was similar in the second set. The Mèdol Tarragona SPSP proved superior again, especially with their serve, a facet that caused many difficulties for the Almería team and facilitated the hosts' offensive effectiveness. This allowed the locals to take the set 25-20.
In the third and final set, the Tarragona team reaffirmed their strength, relying heavily on solid defense and high-level attacking plays. The local coach, Lorena Weber, used the final stretch to distribute minutes among less common players.
The Mèdol Tarragona SPSP closed the match with a comfortable 25-18, certifying the quick 3-0 victory and securing crucial early points in the fight for promotion.
