The renowned journalist and writer Xavier Grasset, born in Vila-seca, reflects on his relationship with cars, from his first Mehari to his current Tesla, and how travel fuels ideas for his programs.

The host of La Selva on Catalunya Ràdio and Més 324 on channel 3/24, Xavier Grasset, confessed that he acquired his Tesla more than four years ago, noting that at the time the figure of Elon Musk was “completely different from what he represents now,” although he remains very satisfied with the electric vehicle.

When I worked as a receptionist on the coast, the sound of the BMW doors closing for me represented the state of well-being.

For Grasset, driving is a work tool. He uses the long hour behind the wheel to resolve pending issues, listen to music, or, above all, to review the program, analyze mistakes, and generate new proposals thanks to actively listening to the radio and other media.
The journalist, born in Vila-seca (Tarragona) in 1963, recalls his beginnings and how he inherited family vehicles, such as a second-hand Mehari. He also recounted his fascination with the sound of the doors of foreign tourists' BMWs when he worked as a receptionist on the coast, a sound that, he says, represented “the state of well-being.”

"It has 400 horsepower; I had never had anything similar, with impressive acceleration and driving assistance that helps immensely on such repetitive journeys."

Grasset, author of books like La pausa dels dies and the upcoming El bon gust, compares the need for quick reflexes behind the wheel with managing a live program, where flexibility and reaction capacity are crucial for handling unforeseen events and constant guidance via earpiece.
