The Vila-seca City Council plans to install 17 new surveillance cameras at municipal accesses to detect infractions and enhance security, aiming to start monitoring in the first quarter of 2026.

The new video surveillance equipment will integrate with the current system, collaborating directly with the Local Police and the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Police) for the detection of infractions and illegal activities. Installation is expected within a maximum period of four months once the project tender is completed.

"On the one hand, we cover the security and surveillance aspect, which will be shared."

Cristina Cid · Vila-seca Innovation Councillor
This project represents the «second phase» of the traffic control and security process managed by the City Council. This stage will specifically reinforce the entrances to the urban centers of Vila-seca and La Plana. Innovation Councillor Cristina Cid also confirmed that the new equipment will allow for anonymous studies to evaluate sustainability and risks within the municipality.
Currently, the municipality already has eight surveillance cameras, all installed in the urban center of La Pineda, the busiest area, especially during the summer. The 17 new cameras will perform automatic license plate reading (LPR) in locations distributed across the accesses, consolidating a common technological infrastructure and improving police response capacity to incidents.
