The Consortium for Environmental Policies of Terres de l’Ebre (COPATE) is organizing the 1st Biosphere Reserve Congress, which will take place in Horta de Sant Joan on June 11th and 12th.

The Consortium for Environmental Policies of Terres de l’Ebre (COPATE) has launched the 1st Congress of the Terres de l’Ebre Biosphere Reserve. This event aims to become a key platform for the region's business community, administrations, and socioeconomic agents, with the goal of promoting innovation and sustainable development.
Funded by the Nuclear Transition Fund, the congress will be held on June 11th and 12th at Celler Les Vinyes del Convent, located in Horta de Sant Joan, a recognized site within the Biosphere Reserve itself. The initiative stems from the desire to strengthen the reserve's role as a strategic tool for territorial development and, concurrently, to generate new opportunities for the productive sector of Terres de l’Ebre.
The congress will place a special emphasis on bioeconomy, innovation, and sustainability as fundamental pillars for the region's economic transformation. A primary objective will be to support businesses accredited within the Biosphere Reserve, providing them with resources and facilitating exchange platforms to enhance their competitiveness, integrate innovative processes, and adapt to current environmental and economic challenges.
The president of COPATE, Ivan Garcia, highlighted that 'this congress responds to the desire to generate opportunities for the territory's business community, offering companies spaces for knowledge, exchange, and advice'. He added that 'the Biosphere Reserve must be a useful tool for sustainable economic development and for the projection of Terres de l’Ebre'.
The program will feature presentations, round tables, and networking sessions, addressing topics such as bioeconomy, sustainability, digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises, and innovation in key sectors like agri-food and tourism. Experiences and projects linked to the Biosphere Reserve will also be showcased.
The full program will be detailed soon. Registrations are now open, and further information can be found on the Biosphere Reserve website, terresdelebrebiosfera.cat.
