The Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition has approved the first aid package for purchasing natural land, benefiting conservation projects in Terra Alta, Ribera d'Ebre, and Ports Natural Park.

This initiative by the Generalitat aligns with the principles of the European Nature Restoration Law, aiming to preserve habitats of community interest and strengthen biodiversity in the Terres de l’Ebre. Projects must finalize land purchase and begin restoration work before the end of 2026.
Within Terra Alta, notable investments include the municipalities of Pobla de Massaluca (11,100 €) for habitat restoration in Finca Vallives, and Horta de Sant Joan (130,848.61 €) for the acquisition of land in the Muntanya de Santa Bàrbara.
In Ribera d’Ebre, the Flix City Council will use 60,108.81 € to expand the PEIN Ribera de l’Ebre. Furthermore, the Spanish Ornithological Society (SEO BirdLife) and GEPEC-EdC will develop conservation projects in the Ports Natural Park and the Serra de Pàndols-Cavalls, respectively.

This aid package guarantees the long-term preservation of the natural heritage of the Ebro region, as the beneficiary entities commit to protecting biodiversity for a minimum period of thirty years.
