The city of Balaguer will host the fifth edition of the Night of Culture next Saturday, June 27th. The event, to be held at the Sant Domènec church, will distinguish FC Barcelona footballer Aitana Bonmatí in the individual category, and the renowned theater company Dagoll Dagom, in the collective category, with the Comte d’Urgell Awards.
The mayor, Lorena González, has highlighted Bonmatí's international projection and her defense of the Catalan language, as well as Dagoll Dagom's long and significant career in musical theater.
The gala will also feature the presentation of the Ziryab Ciutat de Balaguer awards, the 2025 Creation Support Grants, and the City's Honorary Award, the name of which will be announced shortly. According to González, the change in dates compared to previous years is due to a modification in the Ziryab awards' regulations that required a calendar adjustment to unify the presentations.
For his part, the Culture technician of the Paeria, Pep Angerri, has emphasized the diversity of the Comte d’Urgell awards jury and the high caliber of the Ziryab awards, which aim to foster musical and literary creation linked to local heritage.
The event will combine the award ceremony with musical and stage performances, concluding with a reception in the cloister of Sant Domènec.
